I consumi di bordo nei secoli XIV-XV. Note dai registri Galearum genovesi

Sulla base dell’analisi di alcuni registri inediti dell’Archivio di Stato di Genova, l’Autore investiga sulle condizioni di vita degli equipaggi a bordo di galee genovesi impiegate in operazioni militari nei decenni a cavallo tra i secoli XIV e XV, ponendole a confronto con i dati desumibili dagli studi esistenti sugli equipaggi delle galee mercantili dello stesso periodo. I risultati del confronto portano a concludere che le differenze nel regime alimentare tra ufficiali ed equipaggio delle unità militari risultassero meno marcate di quelle rilevate per la navigazione commerciale

On board food consumption in the 14th and 15th cc. Some remarks from the Genoese Galearum registers

Through the analysis of some unpublished registers of the State Archives of Genoa, the Author investigates the living conditions of the crews on board of Genoese galleys employed in military operations in the decades between the 14th and 15th cc., comparing them with the data derived from the existing studies on the crews of the commercial galleys of the same period. The results of this comparison lead to the conclusion that the differences in the diet between the officers and the crew of the military vessels were less sharp than those pointed out for the commercial navigation.
