Itinerari e tempi delle comunicazioni secondo le fonti genovesi (secc. XVIXVII)

Ricordati i fattori originali che spiegano gli intensi rapporti di Genova con il mondo esterno, l’Autore esamina anzitutto gli itinerari e i tempi delle comunicazioni terrestri nell’età moderna alla luce di due fonti primarie: le guide postali, che hanno fornito i percorsi seguiti, e la corrispondenza ufficiale del governo genovese, dalla quale si è ricavata la durata delle comunicazioni postali. Per quanto riguarda le comunicazioni marittime, i resoconti di viaggio presentati dalle navi giunte a Genova nel sec. XVII hanno offerto notizie dettagliate sui porti d’origine, la durata e le caratteristiche dei viaggi.

Itineraries and comunication timings in Genoese documentation sources (secc. XVI-XVII)

After going over the original factors that explain the intense relationship between Genoa and the outside world, first the Author reviews the timings and the itineraries of land communication in the modern age using two main sources of information: mail guides, which provided the routes followed, and the original correspondence of the Genoese government, which provided information on the duration of postal communications. Concerning maritime communications, the travel records from ships docked in Genoa during the XVII Century provided details on the port of origin, the navigation path, the duration and the details of each trip.
